Sony/ATV gets 25% rate increase out of Pandora

BOXED IN: In the midst of Pandora’s battle for a lower royalty rate, Marty Bandier’s Sony/ATV has squeezed a 25% bump out of the service. “At the end of the day, we got a terrific deal for our songwriters,” Bandier told the N.Y. Post’s Claire Atkinson. “Our thinking has been vindicated. Hopefully it’s the first of many.” As for the implications of the negotiated one-year increase, an unnamed publishing exec asserted to Digital Music News, "Sony now has the power to shut Pandora down, that's your negotiating power."
