VIRAL VIDEO OF THE DAY: Here’s a sneak peak at the Flaming Lips’ Super Bowl spot for Hyundai, one of four 60-second commercials the car manufacturer will run during the big game. The band appears in this one, performing the custom-written song, "Sun Blows Up Today," against a backdrop of assorted animals, bikers and one of those giant balloons the band’s lead singer Wayne Coyne uses to crowd-surf. The commercial showcases the Santa Fe, a crossover SUV and was created by the company’s ad agency, Innocean. Hyundai will give away 100k downloads of the Lips track at www.hyundai.com, sponsor a lyric video and take out 30-second radio ads to drive consumers to the spot and increase awareness of the band’s upcoming album. Last year, fun.’s spot for Chevy Sonic featuring the multi-Grammy-nominated “We Are Young,” helped turn the song into a massive hit. (1/29a)
