Best New Artists Part 4: Hunter Hayes

GRAMMY FEVER, BEST NEW ARTIST EDITION (PART FOUR): Meet Hunter Hayes -- not yet 22 and already a contender for 2013's Best New Artist Grammy. And if you think he's young now, you should know that the native of Breaux Bridge, Tennessee, started appearing on TV by age four and performed for President Bill Clinton at seven. He was still in his teens when he inked a pub deal and nabbed a co-write on a Rascal Flatts album; by 2011 he was opening for Taylor Swift on tour. And last year, just two days shy of his 21st birthday, he became the youngest artist ever inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame. He sings, he writes and he plays guitar, keyboards, bass, accordion, mandolin and drums. Oh, and in addition to charming his share of Grammy voters, he's mounted an aggressive campaign to win New Male Vocalist of the Year at April's ACM Awards. When we were his age we were trying to figure out how many corn chips we could fit in our mouths at one time. But never mind about that. (1/31p)
