Be True to Your School, Part 2

BE TRUE TO YOUR SCHOOL, PART 2: Today, NARAS members received a letter from supreme ruler Neil Portnow, reminding them about the Music Educator Program announced on last night's Grammy telecast. "This new award is an opportunity for us all to recognize that behind many performers stands a music teacher who provided the inspiration and motivation to pursue the passionate call of music," the Academy President/CEO writes, adding, "I’m sending this email to you today because you have a special role to play in this award. As an Academy member, you are eligible to submit an application on behalf of a music teacher. If there is a current music teacher who you feel deserves this recognition, please go to www.grammymusicteacher.com and submit an application. It will be a great chance for you to re-connect with someone who has played a critical role in your appreciation of music — or that of your children." The nomination deadline is April 1; nominated teachers will be asked to complete an application. In a related story, a man with a handlebar mustache showed up during a mandatory assembly when I was in the first grade and made us all play the frggin' recorder. I am doing my best to forgive him.
