Civil Wars and T Bone collab on A Place at the Table ST

HUNGER, NO GAMES: The Civil Wars and T Bone Burnett have joined forces again on the Sensibility Music soundtrack to the documentary film A Place at the Table. The three have created 14 tracks for the set, which streets 2/26, led by single "Long Time Gone" (which you can hear in the clip above). The film, a powerful exploration of the hunger crisis in America, will be released on 3/1. The label's net profits and 100% of producer/artist royalties will be donated to The Participant Foundation, which supports programs for "a sustainable a peaceful world." The film, distributed by Magnolia Pictures and directed by Kristi Jacobson and Lori Silverbush, debuted at Sundance last year under the title Finding North. It features actor Jeff Bridges,Top Chef's Tom Colicchio and an array of experts, activists and people struggling to feed their families. "Being a part of A Place At The Table opened my eyes to an epidemic that is happening in our country right now—underneath many of our noses," said The Civil Wars' Joy Williams. "It’s happening to our neighbors, to our friends, to children. It’s a silent battle that can be won, if we as a nation set our minds to ending it. Linking arms with T Bone Burnett to create music for such a timely and important film as this was an honor." Her bandmate, John Paul White, notes, "It hit home extremely hard for me; as a very young husband and father, I was a part of the WIC and food stamps program. I don’t like to dwell much on the past, but I hate to think where I would be without those programs. There were times that the only food on the table was a result of our enrollment. This contributes greatly to my deep attachment to this project. I’m thrilled to have had a small part in a film that exposes and highlights a pervasive problem right here at home. I’m excited about the dialogue that it creates, and the improvement of the lives affected.” The Civil Wars recently shared a Grammy win with Taylor Swift for another Burnett-produced soundtrack contribution-- "Safe and Sound" from The Hunger Games.
