Rod Stewart album details

EVERY MONTAGE TELLS A STORY: In recent years, Rod Stewart has been Clived and Fostered while covering standards and Christmas songs, but on the upcoming Time—his first for Capitol, and his first album of new material in almost 20 years—the Hall of Famer returns to producing and writing for himself. Hitting May 7, the album can be preordered on iTunes and Amazon as of today, while first single “She Makes Me Happy” is now available for download. The iTunes preorder includes a deluxe edition with three bonus tracks. Stewart’s creative impulses were rekindled while he was working on his autobiography, Rod. “Something about that process of reviewing my life for the book reconnected me and that was it: I was away,” he recalls. “Suddenly, ideas for lyrics were piling up in my head. Next thing I knew, I had a song called ‘It’s Over’ about divorce and separation. And now I was getting up in the middle of the night and scrambling for a pen to write things down, which has never happened to me. I finished seven or eight songs very quickly and I still wasn’t done and it became apparent that I would eventually have a whole album of material to record, which had never happened before.” So is it a return to the Rod the Mod swagger of Every Picture Tells a Story or the expat crunch of Atlantic Crossing? We thought you’d never ask, and Capitol has helpfully provided a taste. Early this morning the label posted a sampler clip featuring portions of seven new songs set to a montage of footage from videos filmed throughout the making of the album; it’s embedded above.
