Joel Katz Launches Production Company
A KATZ AND THREE LIONS: Prominent entertainment lawyer Joel Katz is one of three investors, along with former Conde Nast executive Richard “Mad Dog” Beckman and supermarket magnate Ron Burkle, who have formed a new branded-production company, Three Lions Entertainment, which will revive Fashion Rocks and its west coast counterpart Movies Rocks, the branded variety shows Beckman started during his 24-year stint at Conde. The shows haven’t appeared on network TV since 2008, in large part due to the ad recession. The company is looking to produce the shows again starting next year. Beckman left Conde’s Fairchild Fashion Group to become CEO of Prometheus Global Media in 2010, parent company of Billboard, Hollywood Reporter and Ad Age, before falling out of favor with his venture partners.
