Kimmel has most YouTube subscribers

IT’S ALWAYS LATE NIGHT ONLINE: The king of late-night TV is Jimmy Kimmel according to online stats, the N.Y. Post reports. ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live” has 1.5 million YouTube subscribers and has logged nearly 950 million views, far outdistancing Jimmy Fallon, with just 250k subscribers and 100 million views, and Jay Leno, with just 20k subscribers. Kimmel engages his audience by posting viewers’ videos, while Fallon—who moves the needle in terms of selling records and downloads—posts musical segments. Kimmel’s popularity in the digital world could be the reason he has steadily eaten into the lead Leno’s Tonight Show had in the key 18- to 49-year-old demo since switching to the 11:35 p.m. time slot in January. “On YouTube, anyone can have a breakout hit video, but when people subscribe to a channel, they end up watching twice as much video from that channel,” a YouTube spokesperson told the Post’s Garett Sloane.
