Jamie's thoughts on streaming vs. downloading

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: The just-released NPD survey indicating that streaming is now more popular than downloading among 13-35s (see story) is thought-provoking to say the least. Track sales are down year to date vs. the same period last year for the first time in two years, maybe longer. Could streaming be the cause? But at the same time, interestingly enough, currents are up vs. last year. The decline is coming from catalog tracks where, it can be assumed, consumers have already filled up their new devices with the catalog they want. So, if streaming is hurting catalog sales, why hasn’t it impacted currents in the same way? Hey, just askin’. (4/3a)
