Jay-Z to sell interest in Nets

NET LOSS? If Jay-Z really wants to rep the NBA's next rookie class, he’ll have to divest his share of the Nets, per league rules, and Yahoo Sports reported Tuesday that he’s already started that process in hopes of being certified as an NBA agent. Hova’s plan appears to be to sign draft-eligible players to Roc Nation Sports, which his company just founded with CAA. The agency doesn't rep any of the current Nets, but it has several Knicks as clients, including Carmelo Anthony and head coach Mike Woodson, the Wall Street Journal points out. Nets coach P.J. Carlesimo said it would be "disappointing" if Carter were to leave the organization. The NBA Draft is in June, so Jay—who already reps Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano—needs to act quickly to snag any of the top underclassmen who’ve declared their intention to turn pro. The list includes the just-declared Cody Zeller of Indiana, Syracuse’s Michael Carter-Williams and Missouri’s Phil Pressey. And if Michigan sophomore sensation and player of the year Trey Burke decides to go pro, he’ll certainly be on Jigga’s shortlist. (4/11a)
