Steven Tyler to New Management
MORE TYLER DRAMA: Steven Tyler has left manager Simon Fuller’s XIX Entertainment for Red Light’s Bruce Flohr, according to this morning’s N.Y. Post Page Six. The paper reported that American Idol impresario Fuller dropped Tyler after disagreements with his lawyer Dina LaPolt, who recently tussled with now-departed manager Allen Kovac over negotiations on the rocker's Idol contract. A source is quoted that Fuller was turned off by “the drama,” that LaPolt “was very protective, even overbearing,” while pushing Tyler “towards doing the Aerosmith album and tour instead of focusing on another season of Idol.” Just last February, LaPolt earned a big win in a lawsuit, when an L.A. judge dismissed a case brought by Kovac claiming LaPolt’s actions cost Tyler an Idol deal worth up to $8 million. A Tyler rep insisted he was not dropped by Fuller, and that LaPolt represents other Fuller clients, so there’s no dispute between them. (4/30p)
