Trial update: MJ was a slob

TRIAL UPDATE: MJ LIVED IN CHAOS: Yesterday during the wrongful-death case brought by the Jackson Family against AEG, plaintiffs’ attorney Brian Parish played a phone message to Dr. Conrad Murray left by Michael Jackson’s manager Frank DiLeo on June 20, 2009, five days before Jackson’s death. “I’m sure you’re aware he had an episode last night,” Di Leo said. “He’s sick. Today’s Saturday, tomorrow I’m on my way back. I’m not gonna continue my trip. Uh, I think you need—I think you need to get a blood test on him today. I—I—we gotta see what he’s doing. All right. Thank you.” Parish then said he believed that DiLeo had spoken with an AEG executive just prior to making the phone call, the L.A. Times reported, presumably relaying a similar message. This segment was the closest Parish got to the heart of the matter—AEG’s culpability in Jackson’s death—on a day when photos shown to the jury revealed that Jackson’s quarters on the second floor of his Holmby Hills mansion was as big a mess as his psyche. Additionally, LAPD Det. Orlando Martinez testified that Murray didn’t answer his cellphone or return his calls after he arrived at the home, though the doctor’s BMW was parked there, arousing his suspicions. “If it was a medical emergency or a natural death, why would he be refusing to speak with us?” Martinez speculated. “Why would he leave the hospital after he was asked to stay? Why would he not go back to pick up his car?” Murray was tracked through his cellphone and found in Santa Monica. Detectives didn’t interview him until two days after Jackson’s death. (5/3a)
