New X Factor Judges

X AND EX-: Singers Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio will join Simon Cowell and Demi Lovato as judges on season three of Fox’s The X Factor, replacing the departed L.A. Reid and Britney Spears. Cowelll said: “It’s taken more than a decade, but I’m delighted to finally be on a panel with three girls (I think!). Paulina and Kelly both have great taste and massive experience in the music industry and together with Demi, this is going to be a fun panel. It just feels like the time to do something different.” Rowland previously served as a judge on the eighth season of the show’s U.K. iteration. The new panel will be in place when auditions kick off in Charleston, SC, May 21. Tryouts have already been held in Denver and L.A., with an estimated 10,000 turning up for the latter in March. Only one previous U.S. winner, country singer Tate Stevens, has released an album, though the U.K. show has broken acts like One Direction, Leona Lewis, Cher Lloyd and Olly Murs. Mario Lopez will return as host, though co-host Khloe Kardashian will not. (5/21a)
