Sharon Jones postpones album, tour

PRESSING PAUSE: Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings have canceled their 2013 tour and postponed the release of their upcoming album. Give the People What They Want (previously slated for 8/6) due to the singer's illness. Jones was recently diagnosed with stage-one bile-duct cancer; because of early detection her prognosis is for a full recovery, but she'll require surgery and an extended convalescence. "I’ll be staying in touch and keeping my fans and friends updated on my progress," reads a statement from the singer. "I’m looking forward to getting back on the road to give the people what they want!" (6/4a)
