MORE iRADIO: The Web's afire with news about Apple's crazily awaited iRadio being an ad-supported streaming service—something we've been reporting for ages, we might add—including stories about Cupertino's iAd mobile division pivoting almost entirely toward audio ads and banners for the music play. The company is clearly expecting a windfall, while preserving the free-to-consumers model its users expect (against the subscription structure of Google's new Play Music streaming service, for example). As we told you, Apple has promised 10% participation in revenue from those ads, thanks in large part to the brilliant negotiation of Sony ATV's Marty Bandier, among other key players (see the I.B. Bad item below). This year the publishing giant also extracted better rates from Pandora and has been outspoken in the press about the necessity of improving streaming payouts for content holders. Meanwhile, the buzz around Apple's pending service continues. The upcoming New Music Seminar 2013, starting Sunday in New York, will focus heavily on the new service, with honchos like Clear Channel's John Sykes, Republic's Monte Lipman, Glassnote's Daniel Glass, Sony ATV's Danny Strick, WEA's Mike Ibara, SiriusXM SVP/GM Steve Blatter, VEVO's Rio Caraeff and reps from the major online services on hand to discuss its ramifications (and gently refuse to accept demos from banjo-wielding interlopers).
