Top 10 workout tracks

TOP 10 JUNE WORKOUT TRACKS: With summer approaching, the mood—both on the radio and in the gym—has changed, notes Chris Lawhorn, founder of workout-music site Run Hundred, who thoughtfully provides us with each month’s Top 10 as determined by votes from visitors to the site. While winter brought with it an eclectic bunch of workout tracks, Chris continues, this new batch is all about fun. As evidence, consider David Guetta's latest, Fergie's contribution to The Great Gatsby, the collab that J.Lo and Mr. 305 debuted on the American Idol finale and, of course, the insinuating smash from Robin Thicke, T.I. and Pharrell, which was spinning in clubs and fitness centers week’s before it went on the radio. Here's the list:

David Guetta, Ne-Yo & Akon, “Play Hard” – 130 BPM
Jason Derulo, “The Other Side” – 128 BPM
Jennifer Lopez & Pitbull, “Live It Up” – 128 BPM
Robin Thicke, T.I. & Pharrell, “Blurred Lines” – 121 BPM
Emeli Sandé, “Next to Me” – 95 BPM
Taylor Swift, “22” – 105 BPM
Porter Robinson & Mat Zo, “Easy (Radio Edit)” – 128 BPM
Maroon 5, “Love Somebody” – 121 BPM
Fergie, Q-Tip & GoonRock, “A Little Party Never Killed Nobody (All We Got)” – 130 BPM
Carly Rae Jepsen & Nicki Minaj, “Tonight I'm Getting Over You (Remix)” – 126 BPM

The voting for the June Top 10 took place in May, presumably explaining the absence of Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” (see preceding item), which you simply cannot avoid hearing on any visit to the gym—not that you’d want to; there seems to be no burn on this track. We’ve been hearing the full 6-minute-plus album version (the one with more robots) as part of an inspired three-song sequence in Chris Brewster’s spin classes at the Toluca Lake Sports Center, preceded by Electric 6's “Danger! High Voltage” (the refrain shrieked by an uncredited Jack White) and followed by Hall & Oates’ “Maneater.” (6/24a)
