Post says family divvying up expected billions

COUNTING THEIR CHICKENS? On the same subject, the New York Post exhibited tabloid journalism at its most inspired over the weekend with a story headlined “The Jacko-pot: Family already dreaming of AEG Live suit’s billions.” It was written by one Stacy Brown, who’s described as “a reporter and longtime friend of the Jackson family”—though with friends like this, who needs enemies? In this, the latest Jackson-related story filed by Brown claims Katherine Jackson and several of her children “have been meeting regularly at a secret location in Beverly Hills to discuss how to divvy up the loot” they expect to be awarded. They’re seeking a jury award for as much as $40 billion. “I’m not sure [the family] sees it as counting their chickens before they are hatched,” a family member told Brown. “Anyone who has followed this trial can easily see AEG is liable. So, it stands to reason that the $1.5 billion…would be a starting point. The punitive damages are going to be billions more because, this is Michael. They killed the King of Pop.” (7/22a)
