iTUNES CHARTS: If there’s a theme to this Friday the 13th snapshot, it’s this: Fear the saliva-smeared sledgehammer. Miley’s Midas touch is readily apparent, at least when it’s doled out in bite-sized, $1.29-priced morsels. Mike Will Made-It’s Michael Jordan-themed “23,” featuring a rapping Miley and Juicy J, is hanging around at #15, while the pre-order on the deluxe of Bangerz ($13.99) is #17, putting it behind deluxe editions from Drake, One Direction and Jack Johnson (#16), but still ahead of Arcade Fire (#21), Kings of Leon (#28), Drake’s standard (#30), Lady Gaga (#38) and Katy Perry (#43). We’re also keeping an eye on Eminem’s “Berzerk” to see how far this righteously old-school track can go beyond what I.B. Bad characterizes as its “core-serving, male-skewing” constituency. And will Katy’s “Roar” hold off the youth brigade of Miley, Lorde and Avicii? In any case, we’re looking at a vibrant juxtaposition of career heavy hitters and pumping new blood heading into Q4—and that seems like a healthy state for the biz to be in. (9/13a)
