YOUR WEEKEND BOX OFFICE: In what can now accurately be described as a pattern, another low-budget horror movie debuted on top, as Insidious 2—made for an estimated $5m—earned $41m and change. That was easily enough to top the weekend’s other noteworthy debut, the older-skewing crime drama Family, starring Robert Di Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer. Overshadowing the grosses this morning was a New York Times story about the movie industry’s frustration at being unable to accurately measure films’ performance on digital platforms, an increasingly significant sector.
