Sony's new digs

THE ROARING TWENTIES: Sony’s new U.S. HQ will be 30 blocks south of its present location—at 11 Madison Ave. between E. 24th Street and 25th Street, smack dab in the middle of the hip Midtown South tech district, the New York Post reports. Specifically, the company will occupy the top several floors of the 30-story tower, 500k square feet in all, , overlooking Madison Square Park. There’s no signed lease yet, but Sony has a term sheet, sources told the paper. The Art Deco 1932-vintage granite, hourglass-shaped 11 Madison has a dramatic three-story vaulted lobby and underwent a $400 million modernization program in 1997. No word yet on when moving day will be. After the story hit, Sony Corp. U.S. prexy Nicole Seligman issued a memo to staff noting that this is not yet a "done deal" and won't be until the lease is signed. (9/17a)
