TEA

ANYONE FOR TEA? Hey kids, time for another round of Fun With Numbers! This week, we have a word problem to solve: If a label sells 398k albums and 536k tracks, what does that add up to. If you answered 1, as in #1, you’d be correct. The label in question happens to be RCA, and the 398k is the total of its four Top 50 entries, from Justin Timberlake (two), Kings of Leon and P!nk, while six acts contributed to the 536k. So why didn’t RCA run away with this week’s TEA competition? Primarily because Republic had three Top 10-selling albums and four of the top 12, along with the #5 single (see next item), which kept the label nipping at Nipper’s heels. (10/10a)
