Google stock hits $1k per share

CLICK AND WEEP: What stock did you buy instead of Google when it was going for $85 per share in 2004? Us, we bought some DoubleClick and some eMusic and ... no, we're not crying. Anyway, we just thought you'd be interested to know that the tech behemoth today surpassed $1,000 per share, up 14% following its latest splashy earnings report; it hit $1,011.41 at closing. If you've read the recent TIME cover story, you know that in addition to collecting gazillions in revenue from search-based advertising, YouTube and Android, Google is funding an array of mysterious "moon shot" initiatives like driverless cars and data-driven efforts to accomplish mundane tasks like, oh, solving death.
