Lew Dickey Sr.

LEW DICKEY, SR., a 50-year veteran of the broadcasting industry and father of Cumulus Chairman/CEO Lew Dickey Jr., died on Thanksgiving Day; he was 86. Dickey worked his way up the radio ladder at stations from Wheeling, WV to Pittsburgh and Atlanta before launching his own Midwestern Broadcasting in 1958, eventually expanding the chain to include TV stations. He purchased Atlanta stations WALR-FM and WCNN-AM in 1992. Dickey is survived by his wife Patricia, children Pat, Lew Jr., David, John, Michael and Caroline and eight grandkids. (12/1p)
