YouTube service leak
THROUGH THE TUBE, DARKLY: Talk about cracking the code. The tech guys at Android Police, looking at new YouTube app code, believe they've seen the contours of the Google-owned online giant's forthcoming subscription music service. Apparently called Music Pass, the paid service will (or so the discovered code would suggest) offer ad-free music, offline playback, background listening, saving files in different resolutions and other features. YouTube has yet to release any details about the service officially, but if the Android Police crew have it right, we have a clearer picture now of what the service will look like. And if anybody has a shot at stealing digital-music marketshare from Apple, it's probably YouTube. (12/2p)
