Golden Globes noms

DO THE HUSTLE: The Golden Globe nominations, announced before dawn this morning, substantiate some emerging patterns as awards season intensifies. Clearly, 12 Years a Slave (which led the SAG Awards noms) and American Hustle (which already received the New York Film Critics Circle Award), with seven nods apiece, are emerging as favorites to take home the bacon up to an including the Oscars. The names that keep popping up among this year’s performances are Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years), Tom Hanks (Captain Phillips), Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine), Sandra Bullock (Gravity), Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club), and practically the entire cast of Hustle: Amy Adams, Christian Bale, Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper. The nominees for best original song are Coldplay’s "Atlas" (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire); Idina Menzel’s "Let It Go" (Frozen); U2’s "Ordinary Love" (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom); "Please Mr. Kennedy," sung by Oscar Isaac, Justin Timberlake and Adam Driver (Inside Llewyn Davis); and Taylor Swift’s "Sweet Than Fiction" (One Chance). In a smart move, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will return as co-hosts. The full list of noms is at goldenglobes.com. The Golden Globes will air Sunday, 1/12, on NBC. (12/12a)
