Rock Hall

THE CALL OF THE HALL: KISS, Nirvana, Hall & Oates, Peter Gabriel, Linda Ronstadt and Cat Stevens. This list answers two questions. The first is “Who was on the mix tape you gave to Mimi Horowitz in 10th grade right before she made out with your lab partner?” The second, and more pertinent, is “Who’ll be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year?” This diverse but hugely influential bunch will join the Rock Hall at the 29th annual induction ceremony on 4/10 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Ahmet Ertegun lifetime achievement awards, meanwhile, will go to Beatles manager Brian Epstein and former Rolling Stones manager/producer Andrew Loog Oldham, while Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band will receive the award for musical excellence (fka the sideman honor). Online fan voting contributed to the selection of inductees from the long list, and nominees Yes and Deep Purple failed to garner sufficient support. Tickets for the event go on sale in January; we very much look forward to the KISS-Cat Stevens performance medley of “Love Gun” and “Peace Train.” (12/17a)
