Performers announced for Grammy Beatles tribute

50 AND FAB: A reunited Eurythmics, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Maroon 5, John Mayer and Keith Urban are the first batch of performers announced for The Night That Changed America: A Grammy Salute to the Beatles, the NARAS-presented, Ken Ehrlich-produced CBS special slated to air on 2/9. The evening will mark 50 years since the Fab Four's seismic Ed Sullivan Show appearance; performers will cover songs the Liverpool lads played on that seminal broadcast, as well as other Beatles classics. Keys and Legend will duet, as will Mayer and Urban, and Eurythmics Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart will join forces for one night only. More performers will be announced soon; a press release also promises historical and cultural context from between-song presenters, such as the fact that the Beatles made teenage girls really horny. In other Fab news, the band's U.S. albums collection is now available for pre-order on iTunes, with 13 albums (spanning the six years between Meet the Beatles and Hey Jude) mastered exclusively for the download emporium, and a 64-page booklet. Check it out here. (1/6p)
