THE JOINT IS JUMPIN’: Sunday night’s Golden Globes will be the first of 14 awards shows presented this year by a revived Dick Clark Productions, The New York Times notes in an in-depth piece on the company. DCP has come storming back since industry veteran Allen Shapiro, Hollywood/sports tycoon Peter Guber and Guggenheim Partners picked it up for (gulp) $350m two years ago; the company’s most recent triumph was the AMAs last November, a star-studded spectacle that saw a 30% viewer increase over the previous year. “We almost had too many big artists—it was gridlock,” said Shapiro, who wasn’t complaining. Amid the ambitious TV schedule for 2014, DCP is also working on a plan to bring back American Bandstand as a radio offering. “There is no way around it,” said Shapiro, who’s now the company’s CEO. “We have something spectacular going here.” (1/10p)
