Richard Sherman Beats spot

HAWKING BEATS: Tightly wound Seahawks CB Richard Sherman actually gave two post-game interviews Sunday. There’s the one everyone’s talking about—Sherman’s bug-eyed flip-out when Fox’s Erin Andrews asked him to take her through his tip of a Colin Kaepernick pass intended for Michael Crabtree into the arms of linebacker Malcolm Smith for the game-clinching interception. “Well, I’m the best corner in the game!” Sherman responded. “When you try me with a sorry receiver like Crabtree that’s the result you are going to get! Don’t you even talk about me!” When Andrews asked what Sherman was referring to, he growled, “Crabtree. Don’t open your mouth about the best or I’m going to shut it for you real quick! L-O-B!” That stands for “Legion of Boom,” the nickname for the Seattle defense. The earlier interview that aired yesterday was fictional, as Sherman appeared in a commercial for Beats headphones that debuted during the game. Like the spot featuring Kaepernick, the new one uses Aloe Blacc’s “The Man” (now #2 on iTunes, with a good chance of becoming the de facto TV sports theme of 2014) and plugs Beats Music, launching tomorrow, in the tag. It was another shrewd casting move, covering the Beats peeps no matter which team won the NFC Championship. We’ll be seeing plenty of the Sherman spot during the next two weeks. And look for Beats Music to debut an eye-catching new animated commercial during the Super Bowl if Fox can find the time to squeeze it in. (1/20a)
