IB: Tony Wadsworth to Sony UK?

TONY, TONY, TONY: Among the more intriguing names being bandied about in connection with the Sony Music U.K. chairmanship vacated by Nick Gatfield two weeks ago is that of Tony Wadsworth, HITS insider I.B. Bad reveals in his upcoming column, which will be posted in full Friday morning. The renowned U.K. A&R exec spent 25 years at EMI, signing Radiohead and Coldplay and overseeing the successes of Robbie Williams, Lily Allen and Kylie Minogue, among other acts, integrating Virgin into the company and relaunching the storied Parlophone label. Gatfield left EMI in early 2008 at the dawn of the Guy Hands era and went on to become Chairman of trade org BPI. As we reported on Monday, others thought to be on the shortlist of candidates are former head of Warner U.K. Christian Tattersfield, Parlophone’s ranking exec Miles Leonard, SYCO's Sonny Takhar and Roger Ames.
