JUST AN OLD-FASHIONED PUB SONG: Sony/ATV Music has tapped Brit Paul Williams (no relation to the songwriter/artist/ASCAP head) as VP Communications, reporting to pubco chieftain Marty Bandier. In his new role, Williams—who served in assorted editorial capacities at U.K. trade Music Week for 17 years—will oversee all of the company's corporate communications and media relations and field calls from confused HITS editors. Bandier referred to his new veep, who'll be based at Sony/ATV's London offices for the moment, as "a seasoned music professional who has an extraordinary and knowledgeable understanding of the global publishing industry as well as its evolving digital landscape." For his part, Williams said, "I cannot wait to be part of Marty's team. And I am hoping that HITS editors are not allowed to call London." (3/24p)
