iTunes charts

DOWNLOAD THIS: As expected, the debut EP from Capitol phenoms 5 Seconds to Summer has quickly and emphatically secured the top perch on the iTunes album chart on turnover Tuesday, leading nine newcomers onto the leaderboard, though for most the stay will be a short one. The lone incumbent, unsurprisingly, is Disney’s mighty Frozen soundtrack. On the singles side, 5SOS’ labelmate Sam Smith stays strong following his impactful appearance on SNL, hanging out with eight certified smashes and—WTF—NEEDTO BREATHE?! We don’t know what triggered the rapid ascent of the track—another of those bittersweet ballads, a la Passenger and A Great Big World, that have been selling like hotcakes in recent months—but as soon as we figure it out, we’ll let you know.
