Frontline mktshare

YOUR WEEKLY MARKETSHARE RECAP: This week’s frontline chart has three particularly noteworthy distinctions. First, Disney has completed its ascent to the summit of the snowcapped mountain, pulled along by the high-powered Frozen soundtrack album. Second, Sony Music Nashville has outpointed its bigger Universal rival for a change thanks to Johnny Cash’s previously unreleased 1981 LP Out Among the Stars, on Columbia Nashville/Legacy, which debuted at #3 with 52k. Last but not least, this is the last time our frontline-share bar graph will contain the words Island Def Jam—at least not on the same line. From now on—or until further notice—the familiar Def Jam/IDJ will be rendered simply as Def Jam; same with Island. They’re classier and more elegant that way, doncha think? (4/2a)
