Mackay promotion

TOM TOM CLUB: Tom Mackay, who’s been with Republic since its inception in 1998, has been upped to EVP/GM West Coast at the label. Mackay’s A&R credits range from Florida Georgia Line and Eli Young Band to 3 Doors Down and Hinder; he was also deeply involved in the deal that connected Republic with NBC's The Voice. Since relocating to L.A. the fall of 2011 in order to expand the label’s West Coast office, Mackay has spearheaded Republic’s soundtrack efforts, resulting in such releases as The Hunger Games, Son of God, Muscle Shoals and The Walking Dead. In making the announcement, Monte Lipman noted Mackay’s “invaluable contribution to Republic’s success, [and] his unbridled support of artists and executives alike, [which] has made him a natural leader within the company. While fiercely competitive; his vision and outside-the-box mentality has navigated us through uncharted waters into groundbreaking and innovate deals.” Mackay was hardly at a loss of words himself, enthusing, “Monte and Avery Lipman are executives who completely instill and foster an entrepreneurial spirit within all of us. They create a culture that's very supportive and inspiring. That culture is built on finding, signing, and breaking new acts every year. In order to do that, we have to be faster, more aggressive, and more pro-active. It's an outlook that I wholeheartedly embrace." And here’s a fun fact: To date, Mackay's projects have amassed cumulative sales north of 40 million albums worldwide. (5/21a)
