Foo Fighters Richmond show

BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME: RCA's Foo Fighters will be play a show in Richmond, VA, that was completely organized and crowd-funded without their knowledge. Since the rockers—whose eighth studio album is due out this year—haven't made a stop in the city since 1998, local fan Andrew Goldin launched a Crowdhoster campaign to lure them, ultimately selling 1,400 $50 tickets. Credit cards would only be charged if the event sold out and if the Foos actually played. The band agreed via Twitter on Friday 6/13 with a tweet reading, "See ya soon...let's have a good time." With 5k donations from local businesses Brown Volkswagen and Sugar Shack Donuts, Goldin and fellow Foo fanatics cumulatively raised over 70k. The date and venue are still TBD; stay tuned. In other Foos news, Dave Grohl and mates (now celebrating their 20th anniversary) are set to star in a new HBO docu-series, Sonic Highways, that will find them tracing "a musical map of America" via studios nationwide.
