Glass Animals at Masonic Lodge

RAISE YOUR GLASS: (From our resident hench-hipster) Harvest's Glass Animals played an enticingly eerie set last night at Hollywood Forever Cemetery's Masonic Lodge. The intimate space, pitched ceilings and candelabras suggested a party in a haunted attic. You may have heard the Oxford-bred PoMo foursome on SiriusXMU, Alt Nation, KCRW and elsewhere; their brainy electronic sound is intricately produced and boasts an undeniable groove. "Gooey" (above), currently Top 15 on Spotify's Viral Chart, got the crowd shrieking with its first chime. Other standouts included the delicately romantic "Psylla," "Flip," the dancey "Pools" and a unique cover of Kanye West's "Love Lockdown." Among the alternative luminaries spotted in the crowd: KROQ's Gene Sandbloom, KCRW's Rachel Reynolds and Chris Muckley, Deutsch music supervisor Dave Rocco, Cumulus' Derrick Madden, Howie Miura and Harvest's Jacqueline Saturn and Piero Giramonti. The band’s debut album, Zaba, dropped early last month; it pairs nicely with a copious bowl of Kush. Cheers. (7/3p)
