Garth for AM

FRIENDS IN ROW PLACES (UPDATE): Sony Nashville and Garth Brooks at last put the rampant speculation to rest at a joint press conference this morning, as Brooks announced not only a forthcoming tour (with dates TBA) but that he'd be putting out a new album via RCA Nashville (also TBA, with new music expected "within the next two months") and that his catalog, which has never been available digitally, would be sold online within a few weeks at GarthBrooks.com exclusively. Brooks especially thanked Sony Music chief Doug Morris for giving him not one but two giant career opportunities. "We're excited about working with Garth to bring his new music to his fans," Morris said. For more details, see our story here. (7/10a)
