WB signs Dwight

DWIGHT STUFF: Warner Bros./Reprise has inked Americana icon Dwight Yoakam, with a new album due later this year. The Grammy-winning singer/songwriter has a new track, a version of the Creedence classic "Who'll Stop the Rain," which can be found here. Yoakam is set to join Eric Church's U.S. tour, starting 9/11, and will be joining the CBS drama series Under the Dome for a multi-episode arc. The troubadour released albums on Reprise from 1986-2000—going double platinum with his debut, Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc., and triple platinum with 1993's This Time—before joining Warner Nashville and then putting out albums on Koch-Audium and New West; over the course of his career he's sold some 25m albums worldwide, received 21 Grammy nods and won twice. He's also appeared in dozens of films, notably Sling Blade, and numerous TV shows. In a related story, Cameron Strang has a new ten-gallon hat. (7/14a)
