CMG hooks up with Jerkins

E-ROD STEPS UP TO THE PLATE: Capitol Music Group has signed a worldwide deal with Rodney Jerkins’ newly formed Evolve Music Group, the companies announced this morning, meaning the Capitol Tower will have a new tenant. The partnership gives CMG chief Steve Barnett yet another A&R heavy hitter to put in the lineup, in particular strengthening the company’s R&B presence. The initial Evolve roster comprises Keta, Evan Ross and YouTube star Sara Forsberg, as well as a pair of acts signed to the Evolve Inspirational imprint. “Rodney is a highly respected and multifaceted talent; he’s a great producer and songwriter, of course, but he also possesses a keen eye for talent and a great vision for what he wants to accomplish with Evolve,” said Barnett. Jerkins was equally effusive, hailing Barnett as “a great visionary [with] incredible instincts for our business and culture. I'm looking forward to evolving musically and creatively here at Capitol.” (7/21a)
