Manny Simon upped at Republic

MAN OH MANNY: Republic has named Manny Simon VP of Adult Formats, EVP Charlie Walk and SVP Promotion Gary Spangler announced in unison this morning. That gives the 10-year promo veteran oversight Hot AC and AC for Republic and Island. Walk says, “Manny’s unique strategic approach to promote adult formats has positioned him as a top executive in the space,” said Walk, brushing a tiny bit of lint off his Varvatos suit. Spangler put down his phone long enough to offer, “Manny truly embodies the forward-thinking spirit at Republic Records. Given his acumen and history at the formats, he will prove integral to the success of all Republic and Island promotion campaigns.” Simon thanked Walk and Spangler for the opportunity and noted that Hot AC “has emerged as one of radio’s fastest growing formats” before returning to spit-shining Walk’s shoes. Manny was at IDJ from 2006 until a few months ago, when it was broken up, so he’s plenty familiar with the Island roster and the Chris Blackwell ganja jokes. (8/7a)
