THE WORLD IS HIS OYSTER: Confirming what we reported some time ago, Interscope Geffen A&M head John Janick has appointed Aaron Bay-Schuck President of A&R. Janick praised Bay-Schuck as being "at the forefront of a new generation of executives" and noted he "brings a strong musical and creative vision" to the label. For his part, the new A&R chief described the company as "the most iconic label of my generation" and thanked his boss and UMG ruler Lucian Grainge for the opportunity. Under Janick's leadership, he added, "the label continues to foster an environment where passion for artist development, collaboration and the art of record making can thrive." Previously, Bay-Schuck served for 10 years as an A&R exec at Atlantic, where he was credited with signing Bruno Mars, among others, but actually began his career as an intern in Interscope's Video Promotion department in NYC while attending Columbia. He then served at the label's West Coast office as assistant to the head of International Operations. (9/11p)
