YOUR WEEKEND BOX OFFICE: David Fincher’s thriller Gone Girl was the weekend's top flick, giving the director his best opening ever. But the scary-doll horror outing Annabelle (a prequel to the haunted-house hit The Conjuring) came in a close second in its bow.

  5. The Maze Runner (Fox) $12m (-31%) 3,605/$3,329 avg. (week 3)

The only other Top 10 debut was the post-rapture drama Left Behind, which the Daily Beast described as “a terrible Christian movie starring Nicolas Cage”; it earned $6.8m in its first frame. (10/6a)
