Conservatory

CONSERVE THE DATE: Bruno Mars will headline the Silverlake Conservatory of Music’s annual fundraiser on 11/1 at Ron Burkle’s Green Acres estate; Rufus Wainwright will also perform. The event—for the beloved L.A. nonprofit music institution co-founded by the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Flea and regularly supported by the band—will also include an auction of art by Richard Prince, Damien Hirst, Raymond Pettibon, Ed Ruscha, Cecily Brown, Thomas Houseago and many others. In a related story, HITS Senior Editor Simon Glickman took guitar lessons there a few years back and performed “We Three Kings” at a holiday recital with, like, 35 eight-year-olds who were way more technically proficient than he was.
