Apple lightning round

CUPERTINO CRUNCH: Time for an Apple lightning round. Crazy sales on the new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus handsets have caused Apple's quarterly profit to spike 13% ($42 billion in revenue) on sales of nearly 40 million phones. Meanwhile, word about the repurposing of the Beats Music service continues apace, with various outlets claiming Apple wants to negotiate lower rates for streaming licenses so as to drop its monthly subscription fee to $4.99 (this as Spotify rolls out its budget-friendly family rate). There's much chatter as well about the iTunes redesign, which causes the store to open onto the music page (among other industry-friendly innovations; note highlighted music icon above) but also learns your browsing preferences; wherever you are when you close the app, you'll go back there when you re-open it. What other improvements are pending under recently promoted iTunes Music Store Worldwide Director David Dorn? (10/20p)
