Jayne Simon details

SAYING GOODBYE TO A FRIEND: As we wrote with great sadness earlier this week, label veteran Jayne Neches Simon died on Sunday at the age of 66. Here’s a succinct career synopsis from the obituary that ran in the L.A. Times: Jayne entered the music business as a disc jockey at Chicago’s WYEN in 1971—a time when radio was a male-dominated profession. Soon after, A&M relocated her to Los Angeles, and she worked on the lot from 1976 to 1989. Subsequently, she served as GM for Zoo Entertainment, SVP Sales at Geffen and SVP Sales & Marketing at MCA. In 2007, she formed Artist Garage with Mike Regan. Jayne is survived by husband Norm, her brother Bob, son Michael, daughter Cami and five grandchildren, as well as her dog Magic. A memorial service for Jayne Neches Simon was held yesterday at Mt Sinai Memorial Park in L.A. In lieu of flowers, Jayne’s family would appreciate donations made in her name to: Lung Cancer Foundation of America, 15 South Franklin St., New Ulm, MN 56073. (10/24a)
