Greek to LN

HOT AUGUST FIGHT: [Ed. Note: Yes, it’s October, but we’re employing a bit of poetic license here, OK?] The Greek Theatre, that venerable, tree-lined amphitheater in L.A.’s Griffith Park immortalized by Neil Diamond back in the last century, has been the bailiwick of the Nederlander Group since time immemorial. But the Greek has just been snatched away from the promoter—which had partnered with AEG in its efforts to remain the venue operator—by Michael Rapino’s Live Nation, following a unanimous ruling by the Recreation and Parks Commission. “The Greek is an incredible Los Angeles treasure, owned by the people of this city,” reads a statement from the new operator. “We look forward to setting a new standard for this iconic venue, investing heavily to return it to its rightful place as a world-class entertainment destination for fans and artists while being sensitive to neighbors in the surrounding community.” Read LN’s stat-filled statement in full here.
