With the album #1 at iTunes, and six of its seven tracks in the Top 100, including “Like a Virgin” at #3, it remains to be seen how physical retail will react in gauging its final total.

GLEE’S MADONNA
POWER WILL LAND AT #1

Third Columbia Compilation Beats Out AC/DC for Top Spot
The combined Power of Glee and Madonna will result in a chart-topping debut for Columbia’s third compilation of songs from Ryan Murphy’s pop zeitgeist show on Fox.

With last night’s episode revealing Sue Sylvester’s lifelong obsession with the Material Girl, as well as seven set-pieces incorporating some of her biggest hits, Glee: The Power of Madonna will bow at #1 on next week’s chart with a total of 100-120k.

That’s based on one-day sales reports from retailers around the country who haven’t transformed their stores into Jamba Juice locations. With the album #1 at iTunes, and six of its seven tracks in the Top 100, including “Like a Prayer” at #3, it remains to be seen how physical retail will react in gauging its final total.

Meanwhile, Columbia should nab at least two of the top three spots on next week’s chart, with AC/DC’s Iron Man 2 soundtrack looking for a total between 80-100k.

Atlantic’s Circa Survive, a Philly-based rock band fronted by former Saosin lead vocalist Anthony Green, looks on target for a first-week total of 30-35k for its latest, Blue Sky Noise, its first for a major after a pair of releases on indie Equal Vision Records.

Veteran Atlanta rockers Sevendust, long associated with now-defunct TVT Records, release their latest, Cold Day Memory, the first for their own 7 Bros. Records in conjunction with Asylum, which should also do between 30-35k.

Jimmy Buffett’s latest Mailboat album, Encores, a Walmart exclusive, is also looking in the same 30-35k range.

Longtime L.A. rap stoners Cypress Hill’s Priority/EMI debut, Rise Up, released, appropriately enough on 4/20, is ready to vaporize up 18-22k in first-week sales.

The market was up 3% vs. last week, down 14% vs. same week last year and down 10% year to date. You may now start reprogramming your TiVos, which missed last night’s Glee finale thanks to American Idol running overtime.
