GREER AND LINN GET MARKETING STRIPES AT COLUMBIA

Veteran Execs in Charge of Blue and Red Teams

It's now official.

“Great” Scott Greer and Greg “Over Easy” Linn have been named SVPs for Marketing at Columbia Records by label Chairman Steve Barnett.

Greer will head the label's Blue Marketing Team, which will oversee project management, publicity, digital and tour marketing for Beyoncé, John Legend, Adele, MGMT, the Ting Tings and Glee, as well as emerging artists Broken Bells, Passion Pit, Band of Horses, Avett Brothers and The Temper Trap, working closely with Jay-Z's Roc Nation. He came to the label from Epic Records, where he worked in both domestic and international marketing.

"Scott has proven himself to be an energetic and visionary executive, with a deep love of music and a vast understanding of the market’s challenges and demands,” said Barnett. "I've known and worked with Scott for many years now and believe he is the ideal fit for this team as we work toward opening new marketing venues and opportunities for Columbia Records and our artists. Now, which one in Glee is he?"

Linn will serve as head of the Red Marketing team, which includes AC/DC, Susan Boyle, Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, John Mayer, Bruce Springsteen, Barbra Streisand, Train and the production partnership deal with Nickelodeon. Greg joined Columbia in Oct. 1995 as Director Marketing after working his way through the ranks at RCA Records.

"Greg is among the most innovative, capable and respected marketing people in the business," said Steve Barnett. "He understands the big picture approach while remaining detail-oriented—nothing falls through the cracks with Greg. His ability to work effectively and creatively on projects for superstars, as well as those for developing artists, makes him an extremely valuable member of our marketing team. And he goes to AC/DC concerts without earplugs, which means he can’t hear a word I say.”

“I would like to thank Steve Barnett for entrusting me to oversee this amazing team of talented executives,” said Greg. “It is a great honor and privilege to work with such legendary and creative artists, many of whom are cornerstones of this company. It is a thrill to contribute to their historic careers. Now when did you say this will run in Billboard?”
