Rock and Grohl are here to stay. Roswell/RCA/RMG’s Foo Fighters nab their first-ever chart-topper as Wasting Light debuts at #1 with an impressive tally of 230k.

That’s the band’s biggest first-week since totaling 310k with 2005’s double-album In Your Honor, which debuted at #2 in June 2005 behind Coldplay’s X&Y.

The Foos’ total is the fourth highest debut of the year after Adele, Britney Spears and Chris Brown, all of them Sony Music titles, with three of them from RCA/Jive.

XL/Columbia’s Adele album, 21, now over a million, remains at #2, adding another 92k to its impressive number.

Rounder’s Alison Krauss & Union Station album Paper Airplane debuts at #3 with 80k, followed by Hear Music/Concord’s Paul Simon at #4, giving Concord’s Gene Rumsey two in the Top 4.

Veteran Warner Music Latina Grammy winners Mana’s Drama Y Luz enters at #5. with the only other Top 10 newcomer Lava/Universal Republic U.K. pop diva Jessie J’s Who You Are at #10.

Jive/JLG’s Britney Spears (#6), Atlantic’s Wiz Khalifa (#7), Jive/JLG’s Chris Brown (#8) and Glassnote’s still-steady Mumford & Sons (#9) are the holdovers.

Other new chart entries include Rhymesayer/ILG’s Atmosphere (#12), Interscope’s TV on the Radio (#13), Walt Disney’s Lemonade Mouth soundtrack (#15), Nonesuch’s k.d. lang & the Siss Boom Bang (#35) and Dualtone’s Brett Dennen (#38).

RCA Nashville’s Country Strong soundtrack re-enters at #26 with the release of the DVD, while the Foo Fighters’ Greatest Hits also comes back on at #45.

XL/Columbia’s other Adele album, 19, is the week’s top gainer, going #47-40, +13%, now also over a million, with Island/IDJ’s Justin Bieber album, My World 2.0, up 12% at #28. Other gainers include Def Jam/IDJ’s Rihanna (#17, +7%) and Universal Republic’s Florence & the Machine (#49, +3%).

Hitting retail this week is Columbia’s latest Glee: The Music Presents the Warblers collection, featuring Darren Criss, now just behind Adele at iTunes, and Virgin/EMI’s Gorillaz.
