WHEELS 2.0 IS ON THE RIGHT TRACK

Perri Shows She's Ready for Prime Time,
as Chaos Erupts at Warped Tour 2010

Believe it or not, Wheels got it right for once. Two weeks ago, we spotlighted newcomer Christina Perri, who was just beginning to feel the momentum from some unanticipated prime-time exposure, and in the short time since we posted the entry she’s become the hottest new artist in the country. We love it when that happens.

DESTINED FOR STARDOM?
Christina Perri
(www.christinaperri.com) has been on an ever-increasing roll since her single “Jar of Hearts” was featured on a recent episode of So You Think You Can Dance, followed a week later by a live performance on the hit Fox show. As “Jar of Hearts” raced toward its first 100k in paid downloads, Christina was getting heavily rushed by virtually label with an A&R budget. She chose Atlantic Records and is now in the studio with producer extraordinaire Barrett Yeretsian crafting her album. Expect big things from this starlet; we’ve been a big supporter since we first heard Christina, and we’ll continue to monitor her on her rise to fame.

WHAT’S HOT
Kelsey and the Chaos
(www.myspace.com/kelseyandthechaos), female-fronted pop rockers from N.Y.C., are turning heads this summer on the Warped Tour. If Kelsey and the Chaos have yet to infiltrate your iTunes library, you’re definitely missing out. The band formed in spring of 2008 and in the two years since then has compiled quite an impressive list of accomplishments and accolades. Last year, they were chosen as one of Alternative Press’ “100 Bands You Need to Know in 2009.” They toured with such bands as Forever the Sickest Kids and The White Tie Affair, as well as being featured on Warped Tour 2009 on the Kia/Kevin Says Stage. The buzz around the band caughtthe attention Raleigh, NC’s Tragic Hero Records, who signed the band in May of 2009. They’re presently writing for their next album, as well as touring endlessly in support of their August 2009 release Shut Up and Deal, which is available through all digital media outlets.
